About Me

The beautiful Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island
The beautiful Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island

While many people, myself included, love a good beach vacation, there's nothing like the fresh air and blue water of the Great Lakes. Specifically, a little island in the Straits of Mackinac, where Lake Michigan and Lake Huron meet between the upper and lower peninsula of Michigan.

Mackinac Island (pronounced "Mack-i-naw") is a unique destination that is ideal for family trips, girls weekends, or a romantic getaway. Flying enthusiasts can even land their personal aircraft on the island's airstrip - something that I have been doing with my family (first my father, now my husband) for over 30 years.

There are plenty lake destinations in the midwest, but nothing like Mackinac. There are no cars on the island, so the main form of transportation is bicycles or horse drawn carriages. The downtown area boasts adorable shops, delicious sweets (specifically their famous fudge!), and a variety of restaurants to fill your tummies (if you like it, always get the whitefish!).

Mackinac is a place for midwest destination weddings- my husband and I married at the island famous Little Stone Church down the street from the elegant Grand Hotel. Though our reception was off the beaten path at The Inn at Stonecliffe, there are dozens of elegant hotels to host your special day.

If you're looking to visit Mackinac overnight, look no further than the Grand Hotel. If you're just coming to the island this once, do it right! The Grand will take you back 80 years with it's elegant but well kept decor, bright colors, florals everywhere, and it's wonderful front porch overlooking the lake. Enjoy a fall weekend or better yet- take the family over the 4th of July for a truly magical experience! The newly remodeled pool, fireworks from the porch, and 4th of July carnival make the Grand Hotel a perfect spot for families on the Fourth. In addition to all the fun, four course dinners are included in most stays as well as a delicious breakfast in the beautiful dining room. I would love to book this amazing hotel for you and your family!

My family and I had a great trip to Universal with Emily’s help and expertise. My kids love Harry Potter, and Emily had so many tips to share for our visit to Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley. We had a great hotel within walking distance with express passes for less than we would have paid if we bought the express by itself. Very knowledgeable about Universal!
I would recommend this agent to my family and friends.

Emily was great from beginning to end! She was patient while I had a million questions about dates/hotels/rooms/etc. Then gave helpful info about the parks, restaurants, and more. Will definitely work with her again.
I would recommend this agent to my family and friends.

Emily did a great job of organizing a cruise for 15 people. She worked with all the different families to get everything organized and made our lives so much easier. She is quick with communication! She always goes above and beyond and makes us feel special too.

Mackinac Island Top 10!

One of my favorite places in the country is Mackinac (pronounced Mack-i-naw) Island, Michigan. It’s a small island between the upper and lower peninsulas of Michigan that prides itself on it’s modes of transportation. No automobiles- only bicycles and horse-drawn carriages. The coastline boasts gorgeous Victorian houses tucked between tre...
