Admiring the houses in Copenhagen
As a child, I spent six years living in Europe between England and the Netherlands. We traveled extensively whether in search of the Loch Ness Monster or a crepe on the streets of Paris. I saw how the culture, language and food of each country was so unique and I fell in love with the history and architecture.
As a college student I minored in Art History and spent a great deal of time visiting the amazing museums in Europe. I have cruised the Mediterranean twice, taken three river cruises (Rhine, Douro and Danube), visited countless countries by air, rail, car and on foot and have enjoyed every minute of it.
My children have been to Europe many times and we have played with local children, gone to the zoo, and shown them how kids are kids the world over. I think it is a great lesson for adults as well to get out of your comfort zone (new food and language) and to see and appreciate how others live.
For European vacations, I work with you to determine if escorted, independent, or cruise etc is the best method for you and your companions. We talk through what to expect, how structured you want your days to be, what sort of accommodations you want and more so that when you depart you will feel confident in your vacation plans.

Stress free family vacation

Will never book another trip without Recharge travel again! Gretchen took care of every detail for us and it was the most incredible stress free trip. She found 2 perfect hotels for our family of 5 in different areas of Costa Rica that I wouldn’t have found on my own, reserved reliable transportation to and from airport, hotels, etc. and booked all of our excursions. She is so easy to work with and very helpful with tips and suggestions! We already booked our next trip with Gretchen for our group of 16, a European cruise. If you’re going to a new destination, are overwhelmed with choices or don’t know where to start, you 100% need to call Recharge.

New Zealand!

Our trip to New Zealand was one of our best yet. Gretchen assisted us with travel insurance, flight arrangements, excursions, hotels and transfers within the country. The hotels were exactly what we wanted and in ideal locations for our itinerary. After traveling on our own throughout the north island, we joined a train and coach tour of the South Island. Gretchen made all the arrangements for us to connect to the tour and select excursions that suited our interests.

Girls’ Trip!

With Gretchen’s attention to every detail, my sister, daughter and I experienced the girls’s trip of a lifetime. Gretchen first provided us with several options for our destination. Once we narrowed the options and chose Garza Blanca Resort in Cancun, she booked an amazing swim-up suite for the 3 of us with all-inclusive meals and drinks. We have taken a number of trips now to Europe, Asia, and the Middle East facilitated by Gretchen, and have just returned from a trip to Europe were we visited friends in London and the Netherlands, traveled through the eastern part of Germany, took a river cruise down the Danube, and visited Barcelona.

Gretchen did a fantastic job recommending two locations for our week-long trip to Costa Rica! She took care of all of the lodging, various excursions -
horseback riding, scuba diving, zip-lining and white water rafting. While on our trip I even messaged her asking for advice about booking a last minute cacao plantation tour and she responded within hours and made a fantastic recommendation for a tour that ended up being one of the highlights of our trip. My friend, a Costa Rica native, even joined us for the white water rafting excursion Gretchen booked and she had so much fun that she wants to take her family when they come visit.

25th Anniversary European Trip

The Bavarian countryside and towns were amazingly beautiful. Crailsheim, Swabisch Hall, Dinklesbuhl, Vellberg, Rothenberg. Must sees, as were Garmisch, the Zugspitz and the Linderhof palace. A highlight of the trip was the Volksfest in Crailsheim, at the start of Octoberfest.

A wonderful trip. The best thing ever was you Gretchen. Your keeping us up on everything we had to do before, during and ending our trip. We will definitely contact you to plan any future trips. I usually do my own thing because past agents didn't do much of anything. Look at AAA and the travel agent they use, they never contacted me. If you hadn't tried to coordinate their air with your cruise you found my confirmation number was no longer valid and my flights changed. They never contacted me. I would have been in a mess if it wasn't for discovering this. I didn't realize you do the airport, hotel and cruise. Next time I know what you do which is everything. Canadian Rockies!

Gretchen once again assisted us in organizing the perfect trip. Because the Rockies are so extensive and cover hundreds of miles, we opted for a tour which included an overnight train-Definitely a once in a lifetime experience! The tour, which went to Vancouver, Jasper National Park, Lake Louise and Banff, used the Fairmont hotel chain, and all rooms and meals there were top-notch. We never would have been able to see and do everything we did without Gretchen’s help.

Italian Family Adventure

The Trip that Gretchen constructed around our requested complex Itinerary, that included visiting 4 cities in two weeks with numerous activities spread throughout, worked like clockwork when her very clear instructions were followed. we had a wonderful experience thanks ito the detailed organizational plan Gretchen created. She translated our intended goals for the journey, into a well scripted itinerary that captured and in the end, fulfilled, our highest hopes for the trip. Even after two grueling weeks on the road, it was still sad to see the adventure end. I believe that without Gretchen's very professional pre-travel planning & itinerary organization this trip would have been either impossible or a disaster. Boy was she right on top of this as Explora 1 Luxury Cruise Company was an amazing experience. The cabin quality, entertainment, shore excursions, service and food were out of this world and blew us away. We had the most amazing trip to Alaska with our family and friends which was no small feat for her to plan as we had 47 people in our group! We had a unique opportunity to follow a group of students on their singing tour of The Baltic States. Within a few days of reaching out to Gretchen we had flights, hotel rooms and tons of tour and guide recommendations, including drivers to get us to the 4 cities we visited. If I could give Gretchan Winterstein from Recharge travel a ten-star review, I would. I found her by googling. Her website is very professional. Gretchan worked with us for months planning flights, seats, hotels, location, tours, eurostar train tickets. Our trip was US to Germany to London and home. Gretchen made us an itinerary printed everything had it all in order with the exact airline seats, class of tickets/seats and followed any airline changes. She collected all the tickets for tours and any tickets we needed printed them and mailed them in a packet to us. She followed our trip via email to make sure we had everything, and things were going as planned. She made sure we had travel insurance and a checklist of everything we needed to take care of for international travel. She is very well educated and prepared. The perfect trip

We stumbled upon Gretchen quite by accident. After deciding to make this trip (our 1st abroad) we called a few travel agents. Gretchen was the only one to call us back promptly. We had no idea what to expect from a travel agent much less from her personally. The planning stage involved several back and forth emails and phone conversations regarding our preferences. We eventually received from her all of our event tickets and passes and a complete itinerary, and off we went, more than a little nervous about how things would go. It is hard to imagine things going any better. Day after day we presented to people thousands of miles away speaking broken english a form/pass that had been supplied to us by Gretchen, and time after time the response was, "Ah yes sir, we have you on the list, your tour will begin shortly." Asian Disney Parks

Gretchen put together our bucket list trip to visit the Asian Disney parks and sites in Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Tokyo. She listened to what we wanted to do, offered suggestions of places to visit and made the necessary reservations to make it happen. Where Gretchen's expertise came into play was in taking care of the Disney parks part of our trip. They all have varying dates in which hotel reservations can be made, which are usually different from dates in which tickets can be reserved. Tokyo Disney is a whole other ball game. Reservations become available four months out and open up at 9pm EST. The hotel we wanted would literally sell out within a minute or two. Gretchen practiced using the system several times and when the time came, she got the hotel and room type that we wanted. We appreciated her travel tips, helping us stay within our budget, being flexible, and taking care of all the details. We appreciated her helping us with problems even though she was in Greec

Recharge Travel is the absolute best! Gretchen has helped me plan 4 huge trips, including 3 international ones with our kids (Disney/Universal, Galapagos, Paris/London, and Scotland). She makes everything so much easier, from travel insurance to excursions. Almost everything has been perfect, but on the very rare occasion when it wasn't, she handled the situation immediately. We had one difficult private guided excursion in Scotland where a last minute driver change resulted in us getting lost and not getting to visit the places that were promised. A Perfect Trip from Start to Finish!

Deightful and thorough - The perfect combination

We have booked several trips through Gretchen. Her customer service is unmatched, and she is very fun to work with. She has created week-long itineraries for our family based on our interests, as well as taken care of all of our needs in booking cruises and tours. Poor Gretchen even spent one unfortunate evening on the phone with us until midnight after an international flight was cancelled.

A wonderful family celebration!

We had a great experience working with Gretchen for a very special family trip to Switzerland, Italy, Austria and France in June and July 2023.
Gretchen was very responsive, flexible, knowledgeable and easy to work with. She helped shape our ideas into a wonderful trip. She was very organized, kept on top of deadlines, and gently nudged us when we needed to make a decision about something.
It was a delight and so easy to have Gretchen to set up our trip, research and book trains, hotels, cars and airplane flights. It was so much less effort than doing the planning ourselves.
Gretchen provided us with an exceptionally organized day by day packet for our trip, covering the entire itinerary and any actions we needed to take (i.e. a museum reservation) while traveling. She was readily available for any questions or changes we had while on the trip.

Gretchen is thorough and very good at booking (or in our case) rebooking travel. When one of our travelers got COVID two days before the trip, Gretchen took the time to call and cancel and rebook the trip for us for about a month later. She helped us understand the restrictions, the rebooking fees and also helped us create amazing experiences with ideas of things for us to do. We love Recharge travel and would use Gretchen again!

In the initial stages of our trip planning, we really didn't have a good grasp on 'what' we wanted to do. Gretchen was able to use her travel and planning experience to guide us to the best solution. She knew our family, budget and our interests and was able to tailor incredible, budget-conscious options to choose from.
I was a difficult customer with many distracting things going on but she was very understanding and genuinely wanted my family to get the best deal and experience.
