Our last big island vacation was 40 years ago, and we had back then the services of a now-extinct person called a travel agent. We are old enough to have great trepidation about navigating online–a source of stress for us, there being far too much chance of user error. Side note: we have been “click-jacked” by one search site, and were double booked. We could not get a refund had it not been for credit card protection. We unfortunately find ourselves vulnerable to stumbling over these traps. It was a godsend to have the help of Anne Rendle, who acted in the capacity of personal agent. She not only explored options for us, but ensured that we could not be misinformed or misdirected. This, at the outset, made Anne’s services invaluable. Handling the most intimidating and arduous steps in the process, Anne helped secure booking the flights, lodging, car rental and side excursions, leaving us with nothing to do but get to the airport. The trip turned out to be as smooth and seamless and we would wish. In addition, our accommodations were beyond anything we could have imagined: a stunning view of flawless grounds, extra amenities, and nothing wanting for our comfort and convenience. Our west-facing lanai gave us seven breathtaking sunsets. Beyond the beautifully groomed walks and gardens was an isolated beach and reef. A pool and spa were close by. Seeing our rental from a catamaran, we knew that we had the crown jewel of Wailea/Makena. This trip was the capstone of our retirement, an experience unlikely to be repeated. We hoped to have a perfect getaway, and owe a great deal to Anne Rendle for making it possible.
