Aruba - One Happy Island

When we planned our first visit to the beautiful island of Aruba, I initially thought I would take a laid-back approach to prepare for our trip since it was “just” going to be a beach vacation. But after reading through some Aruba travel guides, I started to get the sense that it would be beneficial to get organized and think ahead to how we’d want to spend our time away.  Aruba may only measure about 19 miles long and 6 miles across at its widest point, but what this tiny island lacks in size it more than makes up for in an impressive variety of activities and unique experiences.  I have absolutely no doubt that we could have happily spent an entire week never leaving our lovely resort and its incredible beach.  But I quickly discovered in my research that there would be so much to do and to explore on this Southern Caribbean island if we ventured away from where we were staying.  Aruba really packs a punch with all of the recreational opportunities it has to offer. Hiking, water sports galore, 14 distinct beaches each worthy of visiting for different reasons, touring historical sights, souvenir shopping – the possibilities are endless!  During our first visit we got to spend time at the world-renowned Eagle Beach, enjoy snorkeling at Baby Beach and Arashi Beach, see the California Lighthouse, and explore the California Dunes.  The old adage “time flies when you’re having fun” couldn’t have been more true, and before we knew it our time in Aruba came to an end.  It was easily one of the most joy-filled weeks I’ve ever spent with my family and, before long, we started planning another trip to this Dutch Caribbean gem.  Our return to beautiful Aruba included time in the capital city of Oranjestad, snorkeling adventures to see shipwrecks vibrant sea life at Mangel Halto and Boca Catalina, a day trip to enjoy all that Arikok National Park has to offer, and, of course, plenty of time swimming in the turquoise waters and relaxing on the powdery white sand beaches.  If you are interested in experiencing for yourself all of the charm, beauty, and adventure that Aruba has to offer, please don't hesitate to let me know.  It would be my pleasure to help you plan your trip to this amazing island destination!
