DESTINATIONS VISITED:Iceland
PLACES VISITED:Reykjavik, Thingvellir
SUGGESTED DURATION:3 Days
Stopover in Iceland? Plan on a 3 night stopover on your return trip from Europe. Rent a car, it's easy to pick up your rental car next to the terminal. Stay at a hotel in Reykjavik near the harbor or the main shopping street Laugavegur, Make sure your hotel offers parking or ask me for parking tips. Plan in driving the Golden Circle on one day: start with a stop at the Kerid Crater (700 Kr entrance fee) to beat the crowds (most tours go the opposite direction), plan a stop at the Secret Lagoon (1360 Kr entrance fee in Oct 2024), even if you don't want to go in the water, stop here and ask the desk if you can see the hot springs behind the lagoon). Consider stopping at the Fridheimer Tomato Farm and or the Fludir Mushroom Farm. The next stop is Gullfoss Waterfall and then continue to Geysir area. Lastly stop at Thingvellir National Park to take in magical sights.

Explore the Hellisgerdi fairy park in Hafnarfjordur
On your last day in Iceland, you can visit Hafnarfjordur on the way to the airport. Make sure to stop a the Hellisgerdi Park. It's easy to imagine the fairies and elves having a good old party between the moos covered rocks and underneath the dreamy trees. Let your imagination run wild. And if you are locky, the small fairy shop will be open for some last minute souvenirs.
