COUNTRIES VISITED:Hawaii
PLACES VISITED:Maui Island, Oahu Island
SUGGESTED DURATION:8 Days
The sample itinerary below is split between two islands. I suggest starting your trip in Oahu to explore the city vibe and endless opportunities for fun. Then you can move on to Maui, which offers a bit of everything - great weather, activities, resorts, beaches and more. The total trip could span seven days, or you could adjust your itinerary to include more time at the beach or even stay on just one island. The choice is yours!

Arrival to paradise
Fly into Honolulu on Oahu, airport code HNL. Try to arrive as early in the day as possible. It is suggested that you rent a car since you’ll be exploring other parts of the island during your time here (be sure to check out the parking rates at your hotel in advance). Make your way to your hotel, park the car, and get settled. When ready head out and spend the rest of the day exploring Waikiki on foot. If it's too large to cover, hop on the hop on a hop-on/off bus if available. To finish the day, grab dinner, drinks, and live music at one of the beach’s hotels.

North Shore
Start your day with a quick and nutritious breakfast near the hotel. Then, take the time to drive to the North Shore and enjoy its laid-back charm. Be sure to stop in Haleiwa for some great shopping, as well as checking out the surfers at Banzai Pipeline, “Turtle Beach” and Sunset Beach. When lunchtime rolls around, treat yourself to a tasty shrimp truck meal or a refreshing shaved ice! If you can make the time, consider visiting the Polynesian Cultural Center, which is a popular attraction. Once you’re done with your day of exploration, head back to your hotel and spend some time at the beach or pool. End the night with a delicious dinner and some live music or other entertainment.

Salute to Pearl Harbor
Spend the morning and early afternoon at Pearl Harbor. It's best to arrive early as the area can become crowded in the afternoon. If taking a tour, be sure it includes the USS Arizona and follow the instructions for where to meet. If driving, leave plenty of time for the drive, traffic, and to purchase tickets for the Arizona. You'll likely be there until lunchtime, so return to your hotel for a bite to eat or a snack before hitting the beach or pool. Make reservations for a luau in the evening (Germaine’s, Polynesian Cultural Center, Paradise Cove). Most luaus include dinner and a show and it's best to book ahead. Before bed, pack and prepare for departure the next day.

Oahu to Maui
Before you head to the airport, grab a quick breakfast and plan for enough time to drive, return the rental and check-in. Then, take a short flight to beautiful Maui (OGG) and rent a car to get around. Once you check into the hotel and get settled, spend the day at the beach. In the evening, drive to Lahaina to explore the local shops, galleries, bars and restaurants – grab dinner and enjoy the stunning Hawaiian sunset.

Endless choices
You have many choices today, so start the day off right with a quick breakfast. If it's whale season, arrange a morning whale-watching tour. If not, spend the morning at Haleakala Crater or embark on the Road to Hana. Whale-watching takes about two hours and then you can hit the beach! To experience Haleakala at sunrise, reservations are recommended, or you can visit in the afternoon without them. The Road to Hana should be started as early as possible, allowing for eight to 12 hours to enjoy the waterfalls, beaches, and snacks (like banana bread!) along the way. Finish off the day with dinner and drinks near your hotel.
