New Orleans

New Orleans is a city in south eastern Louisiana, United States. It is one of the most distinctive cities of the New World and was established at great cost in an environment of conflict. Its strategic position, commanding the mouth of the great Mississippi - Missouri river system which is home to many cruise lines. 

New Orleans boasts an eclectic hybrid of African-American, French and Spanish influences. Both the French and the Spanish ruled the city before the United States snatched it up, along with the rest of Louisiana in the $15 million Louisiana Purchases in 1803. The cultural life of New Orleans is a synthesis of contributions by both whites and Blacks. The white American heritage with its roots in French-speaking Cajun society is reflected in the business and commercial life of the city, while the immigrant heritage Irish societies, German Oktoberfest, Italian St. Joseph’s Day altars adds ethnic colour to urban conformity.

Some popular attractions in New Orleans include the French Quarter, Jackson Square, St. Louis Cathedral, Bourbon Street, the National WWII Museum, and the Garden District
