Do you love tropical and balmy breezes or places where you can relax for a while on your own terms? Then you will love the Bahamas. As a travel agent professional, I can promise you that your trip will be both exciting yet laid back. Also, being a Bahamas travel agent has given me the opportunity to learn a lot about the archipelago - the surrounding sea, culture, foods, and history. The country, which is located inside the Lucayan Archipelago and the West Indies, sits in the Atlantic Ocean, not far from Miami, making it an ideal cruise resort destination.Plus, here's some good news - If you're vaccinated, you don't need to take a COVID-19 test to enter the country. Many travelers enter the Bahamian capital of Nassau first, then visit other ports-of-call, such as Freeport or the private islands, Castaway Cay or Half Moon Cay. While the Bahamas has over 700 islands, less than 50 of the isles are inhabited. The name of the Bahamas comes from the Spanish language - baja mar, which means shallow sea. Most of the people live on the island of New Providence, home to the capital. Although the country received independence in 1973, Queen Elizabeth II serves as head of state and is represented by a governor general in Nassau. What is a big draw are the turquoise waters of the island nation and the natural friendliness of the people. Its music and culture are unique and inviting as well. Many travelers like the remote and quiet charm of the Bahama Out Islands - lush and beautiful islands outside of the Grand Bahamas and New Providence. The accommodations on these isles are smaller-scaled and more rustic in nature. Many of the beaches and reefs inside the laid-back Out Islands are uncrowded - some even deserted. Andros, which is the largest island in the Bahamas, is fringed by a barrier reef, which invites snorkelers worldwide. If you love to sport fish, I suggest the deep waters off the Bimini and Berry isles, which sit north in the Bahamas - a place where fishing was immortalized by literary great, Ernest Hemingway. While you will find your fill of Bahamian beaches, Eleuthera features some of the most unspoiled shorelines, including the fabled and lovely Pink Sands Beach, a place that is still relatively unaffected by tourism. The most-northern of the Bahamian islands, Abacos, is home to a large number of expatriates and is a popular destination for vacationers who enjoy yachting activities.Throughout the islands, you can hear rake 'n scrape music - a sound that goes back to the days before electricity. Generally, a saw and screwdriver are used, played by scraping the bent saw to produce a musical interlude. Accordions, drums, guitars, and maracas, made from the pods of poinciana trees, lend a three-four rhythm, similar to the music of a polka or a waltz.Let me design a Bahamas dream vacation for you. Let's get past the pandemic and plan your dream vacation today! I can serve as your go-to travel agent for a fun-filled Bahamas holiday!
