That's why I traveled across China on an immersive journey that took me from the historic landmarks of Beijing and Xi'an to the modern skylines of Chongqing and Shanghai, while also experiencing one of the country's most spectacular river cruises aboard Century Cruises on the Yangtze River.

My adventure began in Beijing, where I stood atop the Great Wall of China and explored the incredible Forbidden City. Walking through centuries of history while experiencing the culture, cuisine, and daily life of modern China gave me a deeper appreciation for this fascinating destination. From rickshaw rides through the historic Hutongs to authentic local dining experiences, every day offered new opportunities to connect with the people and traditions that make China so unique.

In Xi'an, I visited one of the world's greatest archaeological treasures—the Terracotta Army. Seeing thousands of life-sized warriors standing in formation after more than 2,000 years was a truly humbling experience and one of the most unforgettable highlights of my journey.

The adventure continued to Chongqing, where ancient traditions blend seamlessly with innovation and modern city life. Highlights included visiting giant pandas, exploring historic cultural districts, enjoying regional cuisine, and discovering why this vibrant city is quickly becoming a favorite among international travelers.

One of the most memorable parts of my trip was boarding the beautiful Century Voyage with Century Cruises. Sailing through the legendary Three Gorges of the Yangtze River was an experience I will never forget. From the comfort of my private balcony, I watched dramatic cliffs, lush landscapes, and picturesque villages pass by while enjoying exceptional service, dining, and accommodations.

Along the way, we explored Shennv Stream, visited the fascinating Fengdu Ghost City, and experienced the spectacular "War Fire of Three Kingdoms" performance. These excursions provided a deeper understanding of China's rich history and culture while showcasing the breathtaking beauty of the Yangtze River region.

The journey concluded in Shanghai, a city where historic neighborhoods and futuristic skylines exist side by side. From the peaceful beauty of Yu Garden and Zhujiajiao Watertown to the dazzling lights of the Bund, Shanghai was the perfect ending to an extraordinary adventure.

What impressed me most about China was the incredible diversity of experiences. Ancient wonders, modern cities, stunning natural scenery, welcoming people, fascinating cultural traditions, and unforgettable culinary experiences all come together to create a destination unlike any other.
