About Me

Arrive in San Salvador, the capital of El Salvador, and check into your hotel. Spend your first day exploring the city's historic center. Start at Plaza Barrios, where you’ll find the Metropolitan Cathedral, home to the tomb of Archbishop Óscar Romero, a national hero and advocate for peace. Just nearby, visit Iglesia El Rosario, a modern church with stunning stained glass windows that bathe the interior in vibrant colors.Afterwards, walk through Parque Cuscatlán, a green space that also houses the Monument to Memory and Truth, a tribute to the victims of El Salvador’s civil war. For dinner, try local Salvadoran cuisine at a traditional restaurant, with dishes like pupusas (thick corn tortillas stuffed with cheese, beans, or pork), yuca frita, and tamales.Day 2: Joya de Cerén and VolcanoesOn your second day, take a day trip to Joya de Cerén, a UNESCO World Heritage Site often referred to as the "Pompeii of the Americas." This ancient Mayan village was preserved under volcanic ash, offering a unique glimpse into the daily lives of its inhabitants. Wander through the ruins, which include homes, communal spaces, and fields, to get a sense of pre-Columbian life in El Salvador. In the afternoon, head to El Boquerón National Park, located on the edge of San Salvador Volcano. A short hike will take you to the rim of the massive crater, where you can take in sweeping views of the surrounding landscape. After the hike, enjoy a meal at a nearby café while soaking in the fresh mountain air.Day 3: Ruta de Las FloresDrive along the Ruta de Las Flores, a scenic route that winds through charming villages and offers stunning views of coffee plantations and colorful flower fields. Your first stop should be the town of Nahuizalco, known for its indigenous culture and handicrafts, especially woven furniture and textiles.Continue to Juayúa, famous for its weekend food festival where you can sample local delicacies like grilled meats, soups, and desserts. Explore the town’s picturesque church and nearby waterfalls. In the afternoon, visit the village of Ataco, known for its vibrant murals and colonial architecture. Stroll through the streets, visit artisanal shops, and enjoy a cup of local coffee from one of the many cafés.Day 4: Lake CoatepequeSpend a relaxing day at Lake Coatepeque, a stunning crater lake surrounded by hills and volcanoes. The lake’s deep blue waters make it an ideal spot for swimming, kayaking, or paddleboarding. If you're looking for adventure, rent a boat to explore the lake or hike around its perimeter for more scenic views. For a more leisurely day, find a lakeside restaurant or lodge where you can relax, take in the views, and enjoy fresh seafood. Many places offer direct access to the water, so you can take a swim in the calm, clear lake. In the evening, return to San Salvador or stay overnight at a lakeside retreat.Day 5: Santa Ana and Tazumal RuinsTake a trip to the city of Santa Ana, known for its beautifully preserved colonial architecture. Visit the Santa Ana Cathedral, a neo-Gothic masterpiece that towers over the town’s central plaza. Nearby, you can also explore the Teatro de Santa Ana, an elegant 20th-century theater that hosts concerts and cultural events. In the afternoon, head to Tazumal, one of El Salvador’s most significant archaeological sites. This ancient Mayan pyramid complex features impressive structures, including temples and a ball court. Explore the ruins and visit the small museum on site to learn about the history and significance of the area. Afterward, return to Santa Ana for the evening.Day 6: Surfing in El TuncoNo trip to El Salvador is complete without a visit to its famous beaches. Head to El Tunco, a laid-back beach town known for its surf culture and stunning sunsets. Whether you're an experienced surfer or a beginner, the waves here are perfect for catching a ride. You can take a surf lesson or rent a board for the day.If surfing isn’t your thing, The town has a lively nightlife scene, with beach bars offering drinks, live music, and sunset views. End the day with a fresh seafood dinner at one of the beachfront restaurants.Day 7: El Imposible National ParkFor your final day of adventure, visit El Imposible National Park, one of the most biodiverse regions in El Salvador. . After a day of hiking and exploring, return to San Salvador for your final night in the city.Day 8: Departure On your final day, enjoy a leisurely breakfast and some last-minute shopping in San Salvador before heading to the airport. Conclusion El Salvador may be one of Central America’s smallest countries, but it offers an incredible variety of experiences, from ancient Mayan ruins and volcanoes to surf beaches and vibrant culture. Whether you're seeking adventure, history, or relaxation, El Salvador’s warm hospitality and stunning landscapes make it a destination worth exploring. 4o

Spectacular Family Cruise
Reviewed By JT - California | Traveled to Caribbean Sea ~ At Sea ~ At Sea
Marian made our travel arrangements to take our children on a Caribbean cruise. She picked the correct ship for our 3 children and us. When we needed a little adult time, there were clubs for the children to attend. We are adventuresome, and that was the vibe of our ship. Bravo, Marian, for assessing our needs and matching us up so well.

Held my hand throughout.

Marian did the impossible - she got a flight that met up with my Australian girlfriend in Frankfurt so we could arrive together. She also kept me calm when not one, but two flights were missed and guided me through the steps to get back on track. Her fee is ridiculously low for the service she supplies. I will use her once again as I have in the past.

Our Bespoke Italian Adventure
it was a wonderful trip -- Pompeii, Herculaneum, Agrigento, and enough museums to satisfy even us. All the drivers were terrific. Teo, who drove us from Siracusa to Palermo and was more than up to the task. He tried two or possibly three ways to get us to Piazza Armerina, but it wasn't possible because the roads were washed out, so we went on to Agrigento, where he set us up for the easiest way to see as much as possible. It was spectacular. He explained to us that merely to drive to the two stops on the way to Palermo would take more than the allotted 8 hours. The various map programs say it can be done with the stops, but real world conditions make it impossible. Admittedly we had really bad weather and horrific traffic, but who gets ideal conditions? The Valley of the Temples is spectacular, but it might better be a separate trip or an overnight, especially for older people. Again, thank you for all your help. Stay healthy! All the best, E and J

Trains, Boats, and Planes Adventure Abounds
Thank you, Marian, for our diverse, detailed adventure. Having us meet fellow cruisers prior to the cruise was brilliant. We are particularly grateful for the door to door care. Our fears of not getting to the right place were eased when we saw our greeter and our names on his sign. The Glacier Express and our stay in Zermet far exceeded our expectations. We loved arriving in San Moritz and staying in our castle-like hotel. The Bernina Express was more great scenery and so uplifting. Enjoyed exploring the Milan train station completing our loop. Flying to Edinburgh, exploring the castles, streets, and lunching on the royal yacht made our short stay fly by. The train to London was a peaceful, pleasant end to our side adventure and way to ease into our week's stay in London. At King's Cross station our greeter whisked off to our lodgings via a real London taxi. Loved the theaters, royal mews, and Keys ceremony. So much to see; so little time.
