About Me

Begin your adventure in Guatemala City, the country's vibrant capital. After arriving, explore the historic downtown area starting at Plaza Mayor, where you’ll find landmarks like the Metropolitan Cathedral and National Palace of Culture. Visit the Museo Nacional de Arqueología y Etnología to get an introduction to Guatemala’s rich history. In the evening, dine in Zona Viva, known for its restaurants and nightlife. Be sure to try traditional dishes like pepian (meat stew) and tamales.Day 2: Antigua GuatemalaTake a short drive to the charming colonial city of Antigua Guatemala, a UNESCO World Heritage Site surrounded by volcanoes. Explore its cobblestone streets and visit landmarks like La Merced Church, Antigua Cathedral, and the ruins of San Francisco Church. Spend time in the bustling local markets and buy handwoven textiles or jade jewelry. Hike up to Cerro de la Cruz for a panoramic view of the city and surrounding volcanoes. End the day with dinner at a cozy restaurant in Antigua’s historic center.Day 3: Pacaya VolcanoSpend the day hiking Pacaya Volcano, an active volcano near Antigua. The 2-hour hike rewards you with stunning views of the lava fields and surrounding landscapes. At the summit, you can even roast marshmallows over hot volcanic rocks! After the hike, return to Antigua for a relaxing evening at one of the town’s restaurants or cafés.Day 4: Lake Atitlán Travel to the stunning Lake Atitlán, nestled between three volcanoes. Check in at Panajachel, the main lakeside town, and spend the afternoon taking a boat tour around the lake. Visit traditional Mayan villages such as San Juan La Laguna and Santiago Atitlán, where you’ll find local crafts, art, and traditional weaving. Relax by the lake in the evening while enjoying the breathtaking sunset views.Day 5: Chichicastenango MarketHead to Chichicastenango to experience one of Central America's most famous markets. The market, held on Thursdays and Sundays, is a vibrant place where locals sell everything from handmade crafts to fresh produce. Visit the Santo Tomás Church, where indigenous rituals blend with Catholic traditions. After exploring the market, return to Lake Atitlán for a quiet afternoon or evening stroll along the lake.Day 6: Tikal National ParkFly or take a bus to Flores in northern Guatemala, your gateway to the ancient Mayan city of Tikal, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Spend the day exploring the towering pyramids, temples, and plazas of Tikal, one of the largest and most important Mayan sites. Climb Temple IV for panoramic views of the jungle canopy and watch for wildlife like howler monkeys and toucans. In the evening, return to Flores, a picturesque town on Lake Petén Itzá, for dinner and relaxation.Day 7: Yaxhá Ruins On your second day in the Petén region, visit the lesser-known but equally fascinating Yaxhá ruins. Nestled between two lakes, Yaxhá offers a quieter, more serene experience than Tikal, with incredible views from the top of its pyramids. Afterward, explore the island town of Flores or take a boat tour on Lake Petén Itzá. Flores is a charming place to wander around, with its narrow streets, colonial buildings, and waterfront cafés.Day 8: Rio Dulce and Livingston Journey to Rio Dulce, a beautiful region of rivers, canyons, and jungle. Take a boat ride through the Canyon of Rio Dulce, where cliffs rise dramatically on either side of the river. Continue on to the Caribbean town of Livingston, known for its Garifuna culture and laid-back vibe. Spend the afternoon exploring the town, trying local dishes like tapado (seafood stew), and enjoying traditional Garifuna music and dance.Day 9: Semuc ChampeyVisit the natural wonder of Semuc Champey, a series of turquoise pools nestled in the jungle. Spend the day swimming in the clear waters, hiking through the surrounding forest, or exploring nearby caves. This remote location is one of Guatemala’s hidden gems, offering both adventure and tranquility. Stay overnight in Lanquin or return to Guatemala City, depending on your schedule.Day 10: Departure On your final day, head back to Guatemala City for your flight home. If time allows, visit the Museo Ixchel del Traje Indígena, which showcases traditional Mayan textiles, or stop by a local market for last-minute souvenirs before departing. Conclusion Guatemala is a country rich in culture, history, and natural beauty. From exploring ancient Mayan ruins in Tikal to relaxing by the serene waters of Lake Atitlán, every day brings new experiences. Whether you’re hiking volcanoes, wandering colonial streets, or immersing yourself in Mayan traditions, Guatemala’s diverse offerings make it a truly unique destination.

Anything less than amazing would be an understatement without Marian my trip wouldn’t have been as productive and organized. With Marian’s help I got to see the most stunning places of Italy. Marian was so easy to work with and was very flexible with time there wasn’t a moment she wasn’t available seriously. Spectacular Family Cruise
Reviewed By JT - California | Traveled to Caribbean Sea ~ At Sea ~ At Sea
Marian made our travel arrangements to take our children on a Caribbean cruise. She picked the correct ship for our 3 children and us. When we needed a little adult time, there were clubs for the children to attend. We are adventuresome, and that was the vibe of our ship. Bravo, Marian, for assessing our needs and matching us up so well.

Held my hand throughout.

Marian did the impossible - she got a flight that met up with my Australian girlfriend in Frankfurt so we could arrive together. She also kept me calm when not one, but two flights were missed and guided me through the steps to get back on track. Her fee is ridiculously low for the service she supplies. I will use her once again as I have in the past.

Our Bespoke Italian Adventure
it was a wonderful trip -- Pompeii, Herculaneum, Agrigento, and enough museums to satisfy even us. All the drivers were terrific. Teo, who drove us from Siracusa to Palermo and was more than up to the task. He tried two or possibly three ways to get us to Piazza Armerina, but it wasn't possible because the roads were washed out, so we went on to Agrigento, where he set us up for the easiest way to see as much as possible. It was spectacular. He explained to us that merely to drive to the two stops on the way to Palermo would take more than the allotted 8 hours. The various map programs say it can be done with the stops, but real world conditions make it impossible. Admittedly we had really bad weather and horrific traffic, but who gets ideal conditions? The Valley of the Temples is spectacular, but it might better be a separate trip or an overnight, especially for older people. Again, thank you for all your help. Stay healthy! All the best, E and J

Trains, Boats, and Planes Adventure Abounds
Thank you, Marian, for our diverse, detailed adventure. Having us meet fellow cruisers prior to the cruise was brilliant. We are particularly grateful for the door to door care. Our fears of not getting to the right place were eased when we saw our greeter and our names on his sign. The Glacier Express and our stay in Zermet far exceeded our expectations. We loved arriving in San Moritz and staying in our castle-like hotel. The Bernina Express was more great scenery and so uplifting. Enjoyed exploring the Milan train station completing our loop. Flying to Edinburgh, exploring the castles, streets, and lunching on the royal yacht made our short stay fly by. The train to London was a peaceful, pleasant end to our side adventure and way to ease into our week's stay in London. At King's Cross station our greeter whisked off to our lodgings via a real London taxi. Loved the theaters, royal mews, and Keys ceremony. So much to see; so little time.
