About Me

I love the Roatan and think it is necessary to set something straight before you continue with your plans to visit. If it is not a match, you might not experience the same love for the island life as I have. There are many misconceptions about going to Roatan.Staying on Roatan is not the same as watching a home search on a cable network. The TV show is staged to make everything look great. Why would you watch if it were not a showing of the best view? Do you really want to look at a litter scatter stream removing waste water?Everyone loves great views of the glistening blue Caribbean.1. Roatan is not a cheap place to go. Honduras is a 3rd world country, BUT Roatan is a world famous star. Getting to the island pricey. The most budget friendly places are generally reserved a year or more out and not the style resorts found in the Caribbean Mexico,Dominican Republic, or other Caribbean resort areas. Roatan is an island in a 3rd world country and maintains the customs and style of the native population. Do Not have USA expectation, customs, or standards. You will be out of the laws and expectations of your home country. Be polite and enjoy learning about how other people live.2. Transportation costs are dynamic. The more demand, the higher the price goes up. Third party booking companies are not always dependable (fine print).3. Matching reservations that are appropriate for families, couples, and individuals takes a great deal of time. No one wants to be miserable on holiday, so this is extremely important.4. I do charge a fee when dealing with Roatan because of the intense work it takes to coordinate vision to completion. There have just been too many shoppers and ghosts for this particular area. I am one of the few Roatan experts that has actually lived on island with current contacts.A Quick overview of Roatan—very quick.Roatan is the largest of the Honduran Bay Islands, off the North coast of the mainland of Honduras. The official language is Spanish, but many languages are spoken.Prior to annexation, Roatan had been occupied by British pirates, ancestors of survivors of slave ships gong to St. Vincent (the Garifuna), and various expats, escapees, and a collection of unique individuals seeking a new life. Prior to annexation, the main language was English. Many of the families have inter-married and you never now who is related to whom. Great story lines.Electricity full time came to Roatan around 1993 with the building of the RECO generation plant. Communication was done by CB and then very expensive and lines. With the dawn of the cell phone, almost everyone is connected to the outside via internet, internet, and cable.Roatan was mostly a destination for scuba divers and sports fishermen until 2008 when the ship dock at Coxen Hole was remodeled and cruise ships started making regular stope. In2010, Carnival Corporation built Mahogany Bay with its own docks, beaches, restaurants, etc.(an exclusive island experience) for its fleet including Princess, Holland American, Carnival, and Costa to name a few. AS they say, “Build it and they will come”Many changes have happened on Roatan since we first stepped foot on Roatan in December of 1993. We knew if some place was so. beautiful on a rainy day, it use be great in the sun.Cost:Roatan is an island and everything that is not grown on the island must be shipped in.Roatan’s beauty and experience opportunities have become well known and very popular. Many visitors are returnees from the cruise ship experiences. All this said, Roatan is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. We returned 3 times per year (at least 2 months) from 1993 until 2019, when we sold our property. Why did we keep going back? The people are very friendly, caring, and kind. Plus, there is nothing like a Roatan sunset.

Anything less than amazing would be an understatement without Marian my trip wouldn’t have been as productive and organized. With Marian’s help I got to see the most stunning places of Italy. Marian was so easy to work with and was very flexible with time there wasn’t a moment she wasn’t available seriously. Spectacular Family Cruise
Reviewed By JT - California | Traveled to Caribbean Sea ~ At Sea ~ At Sea
Marian made our travel arrangements to take our children on a Caribbean cruise. She picked the correct ship for our 3 children and us. When we needed a little adult time, there were clubs for the children to attend. We are adventuresome, and that was the vibe of our ship. Bravo, Marian, for assessing our needs and matching us up so well.
Marian Wattel responded
"Thank you for the opportunity to assist in making your family adventure a success. I really knew we had a fit but needed to have a work through. You made my hunch become a reality. I know there will be other family adventures to follow. "

Held my hand throughout.

Marian did the impossible - she got a flight that met up with my Australian girlfriend in Frankfurt so we could arrive together. She also kept me calm when not one, but two flights were missed and guided me through the steps to get back on track. Her fee is ridiculously low for the service she supplies. I will use her once again as I have in the past.
Marian Wattel responded
"Lynne, It is always a pleasure working with you. So glad you are back home, safe, and with a smile in your voice. Mew"
I would recommend this agent to my family and friends.

    Our Bespoke Italian Adventure
it was a wonderful trip -- Pompeii, Herculaneum, Agrigento, and enough museums to satisfy even us. All the drivers were terrific. Teo, who drove us from Siracusa to Palermo and was more than up to the task. He tried two or possibly three ways to get us to Piazza Armerina, but it wasn't possible because the roads were washed out, so we went on to Agrigento, where he set us up for the easiest way to see as much as possible. It was spectacular. He explained to us that merely to drive to the two stops on the way to Palermo would take more than the allotted 8 hours. The various map programs say it can be done with the stops, but real world conditions make it impossible. Admittedly we had really bad weather and horrific traffic, but who gets ideal conditions? The Valley of the Temples is spectacular, but it might better be a separate trip or an overnight, especially for older people. Again, thank you for all your help. Stay healthy! All the best, E and J

Trains, Boats, and Planes Adventure Abounds
Thank you, Marian, for our diverse, detailed adventure. Having us meet fellow cruisers prior to the cruise was brilliant. We are particularly grateful for the door to door care. Our fears of not getting to the right place were eased when we saw our greeter and our names on his sign. The Glacier Express and our stay in Zermet far exceeded our expectations. We loved arriving in San Moritz and staying in our castle-like hotel. The Bernina Express was more great scenery and so uplifting. Enjoyed exploring the Milan train station completing our loop. Flying to Edinburgh, exploring the castles, streets, and lunching on the royal yacht made our short stay fly by. The train to London was a peaceful, pleasant end to our side adventure and way to ease into our week's stay in London. At King's Cross station our greeter whisked off to our lodgings via a real London taxi. Loved the theaters, royal mews, and Keys ceremony. So much to see; so little time.
