Growing up in a military family that moved to a new home every few years gave me an early start on exploring new locations. The drive to seek new experiences developed further when I met my husband, Brian, a merchant marine who had sailed around the world.On one of our first dates, I asked him, "If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be?" His answer? The Canary Islands. I had never even heard of that destination! But I never forgot it and took it as a challenge to make his dream come true. Years later, when time and finances allowed, we found ourselves exploring the beautiful islands of Tenerife, Lanzarote, and Gran Canaria, each with their unique personalities and otherworldly landscapes. I remain motivated to meet that goal -- where do you want to go and how will we get you there?  Our wanderlust would lead us to many amazing adventures. Together we have visited dozens of countries and numerous islands. In 2022 we realized our dream to set foot on all 7 continents when we visited Antarctica on an expedition cruise.! It is a true joy to deploy my travel expertise and planning skills on behalf of my clients. I came to this role later in life, after my twin daughters were grown. After a career as a writer and blogger, I longed for a new venture. Over the years, my travel planning skills had manifested some amazing vacation experiences for my family, and friends often turned to me for advice and guidance when planning cruises and trips. When an opportunity arose to train as a travel consultant with a local branch of a national travel brand, I jumped in with both feet, taking advantage of every possible chance to learn and develop my skills in the industry. But when the pandemic crippled the industry, and the office closed, I knew that could do better on my own. Thus Coastwise Travel was born. I was determined to continue traveling -- safely and with common sense -- despite travel restrictions, requirements and protocols. Soon new clients were reaching out to me for assistance; in the midst of the challenges of COVID, my expertise and services were valued more than ever. I put my whole heart into planning and executing travel experiences. The freedom and flexibility I enjoy as the owner of my business ensures that my clients receive personalized service. I consider the role I play as similar to a match maker -- I take the time to get to know my clients. I understand their preferences, expectations, desires and dreams.
