In early 2025 I attended the River Cruise Exposition in Vienna. I got a chance to see many river boats first hand. I saw and experienced their public spaces, the layouts and size of their staterooms and the location of everything onboard. I was invited to meals and entertainment on the different ships.

Each river cruise lines appeals to different customers. It is not just about the best deal available for an itinerary. There are many aspects that can enhance a river cruise vacations. Each cruise line offers different amenities that are included or not, important for some travelers while not important for others.

Some river cruise lines have departures dedicated to solo travel, there are themed river cruises, like a wine river cruise, a story teller cruise with a specific author, or some cruise lines specialize in culinary experiences, to name just a few of their differences. 

As a travel agent is my goal to match my clients’ interests and what is valuable to them with a particular cruise line and ship. Among the river cruise lines that I was able to see and experience is Viking, Avalon and Ama Waterways, Riviera Travel, Amadeus, Emerald and Scenic Cruise Lines, Riverside Cruises, Tauck and Uniworld.
