Expert guidance: A knowledgeable tour guide provides valuable insights and information about the destination, its history, and culture, making for a richer and more informative travel experience. As you are travelling along, he will point out important landmarks on the way, and when you visit different historic buildings and sights, he will tell you all the highlights.

Socialization: Guided tours provide an opportunity to meet and interact with like-minded travelers, forging new friendships.

Ability to see more in a short period of time: Since all the logistics are taken care of by an experienced tour operator, everything is seamless and organized. There is no loss of time travelling from one destination to another, there are skip-the-line entrances to all the sights, and the tour guide is always available to direct you to find the best restaurants, shopping and so forth.

Safety: In some destinations, guided travel may be safer than traveling independently, particularly in places with language barriers, cultural differences, or safety concerns.

A disadvantage of a guided tour is that most of the schedule and destinations are pre-planned, so there is less flexibility for the individual traveler. 

Advantages and disadvantages of independent travel.

One of the most appeals for travelling on your own is the freedom and flexibility: it allows to explore at your own pace, make your own itinerary, and even make changes as needed.

More contact with locals: if you are alone or traveling with someone else, you have more interaction with people from the country, as you ask for directions, advice or spend time in conversation and exploration.

Independent travel requires a lot of research, planning, and organization on the part of the traveler, which can be time-consuming and stressful. Once in destination, it also takes times to find information and directions.

Safety concerns: Independent travel can be less safe than guided travel depending on the destination.
