I'm an expert travel planner for epic Canadian Rockies National Park road trips. See below for info on my own personal trip, last Summer.
Calgary: The Starting Point I kicked off in Calgary with a visit to the Calgary Tower for panoramic views of the city and the Rockies. Then, I raced down the hill at WinSport’s downhill karting—a thrilling start to the trip!
Kananaskis & Banff: Hiking and Blue Waters Next up was Kananaskis for a hike up Ha Ling Peak. The climb was challenging but worth every step for those sweeping valley views. In Banff, I spent a serene morning canoeing on Lake Louise—its dreamy blue waters surrounded by peaks felt straight out of a painting. A delicious lunch at Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise was the cherry on top.
Waterfalls & Wild Adventures in Yoho & Golden: Yoho National Park offered impressive waterfalls like Takakkaw Falls, where the roar of water echoed through the park. Over in Golden, whitewater rafting on the Kicking Horse River delivered an adrenaline rush, while fishing on calmer waters provided some much-needed relaxation.### Relaxing at Radium Hot Springs I recharged at Radium Hot Springs, where Lussier Springs’ natural vibe won me over. Hidden deep in the woods, these springs felt like a private paradise, perfect for unwinding.
Johnston Canyon & Kootenay: Trails and Hidden Gems Hiking Johnston Canyon, with its scenic waterfalls, was a treat. Heading into Kootenay National Park, I discovered Olive Lake and Numa Falls—less crowded and truly peaceful spots.
Columbia Icefields & Jasper: Glacier Walks and Sky Views The drive along Columbia Icefields Parkway was jaw-dropping. Walking on the Crowfoot Glacier was a surreal experience—cold but worth it! Jasper’s Maligne Canyon provided stunning views, and riding the SkyTram to Whistlers Mountain was a highlight, offering a panoramic perspective of the Rockies.
Kelowna & Vancouver: Wine and Coastal Fun In Kelowna, I enjoyed wine tasting and mountain biking in Myra Canyon—both equally unforgettable. Ending the trip in Vancouver, I explored the city by bike and took a seaplane tour for a final, stunning view of the coast.
