About Me

Anyone can put together a list of hotels and call it a group trip. Book a block of rooms, hire a bus, hand out a paper itinerary, and hope for the best. That’s not what group travel should feel like, and it’s not how Adventures by Matt approaches it.

Group travel is its own discipline. It demands a different skill set than booking an individual vacation: managing dozens of personalities and expectations at once, building in flexibility without losing the structure that makes a trip run smoothly, and designing days that feel personal even when twenty or thirty people are sharing the same itinerary. Get it wrong, and a group trip turns into a logistical headache where nobody, including the person who organized it, actually enjoys the destination. Get it right, and it becomes the kind of experience people are still talking about years later.

That distinction is the foundation Adventures by Matt is built on. With many years in the travel industry and firsthand experience across 53 countries on all seven continents, every itinerary that goes out the door has been shaped by someone who has actually walked the route, eaten the meals, and tested the logistics before ever selling them to a client. That’s not a marketing line, it’s a working policy: destinations get personally vetted before they’re offered to groups, because there’s no substitute for knowing exactly what a day on the ground will demand.

The credentials back it up. Adventure Travel Specialist and Leisure Travel Specialist certifications through Travel Leaders Network, completion of the Future Leaders in Travel program, and active membership in ASTA and CLIA all reflect a continued investment in doing this work at a professional level, not a hobbyist one. But credentials only tell part of the story. The more important part is what happens when a group actually lands somewhere remote and unpredictable, and the person who built the trip is the one standing there leading it.

That’s the model: small group travel where the person who designed the itinerary is the same person managing it in real time, adjusting for weather, energy levels, local conditions, and the dozens of small surprises that any seasoned traveler knows are inevitable. It’s a level of accountability that’s hard to find in group travel generally, where the planner and the on-the-ground leader are often two completely different people who’ve never met, let alone traveled the route together.

This expertise gets applied most often in a handful of specialties where the complexity is real and the margin for error is small. Polar expeditions, whether tracking the aurora through the Arctic or navigating the logistics of an Antarctic crossing, require precision planning and an operator who understands the realities of extreme environments. African safaris demand relationships with the right camps, the right guides, and the right pacing to balance wildlife encounters with genuine rest. European river cruises need someone who can match the right ship and itinerary to a group’s interests rather than defaulting to whatever’s easiest to sell. And Southeast Asia, particularly Vietnam, Thailand, and Bali, rewards operators who understand the cultural nuance and on-the-ground texture that turns a good trip into an unforgettable one.

What ties all of this together is a boutique approach to a part of the industry that’s often treated as anything but boutique. Group travel doesn’t have to mean generic. It can still mean a thoughtfully built itinerary, a guide who knows the destination from personal experience, and a level of relationship-driven service where every traveler feels like more than a name on a roster. That’s the standard Adventures by Matt holds itself to on every group departure, expedition, or custom journey it puts together.

If there’s a common thread in the travel industry’s complaints about group trips, it’s usually some version of “it felt impersonal” or “the planner clearly hadn’t been there.” Solving for both of those problems is, in a lot of ways, the whole job. It’s why firsthand vetting isn’t optional, why personal leadership on expeditions isn’t outsourced, and why the specialties chosen are ones where deep expertise actually changes the outcome.

Group travel deserves the same level of care, precision, and personal investment as any custom solo itinerary. Anyone planning their next group departure, whether it’s a milestone celebration, a multigenerational family trip, or an expedition-style adventure to somewhere remote, deserves a partner who has done the work long before the group ever steps off the plane.

Matt planned our 10 day trip to Ireland including personal drivers each day. Ou daily activities started at 9am each day. We saw and experienced everything there was to do each day. Matt provided tour guides for the 2 of us. At ages 80 and 82 it was a dream trip for us. Best Company Trip I’ve Ever Been On
Reviewed By Ana C - Reno, NV | Traveled to Las Vegas | Nevada | USA
From the moment we landed in Vegas, everything felt effortless. Flights, transfers, and hotel check-in were smooth, and it was clear this trip was extremely well planned. The private dinner at Bourbon Steak was next-level — incredible food, amazing service, and such a special atmosphere for our team. Renting out Swingers Mini Golf for the after-party was such a fun and unexpected touch. Huge credit to Matt for creating an experience that felt both luxurious and genuinely fun. He gave plenty of communication about which flight I was placed on along with a detailed itinerary.
I would recommend this agent to my family and friends.
