About Me

View from the city walls
View from the city walls

Perched on the verdant banks of the River Foyle, Derry—also known as Londonderry—offers travelers a fusion of storied walls, vibrant arts, and a community spirit that turns first-time visitors into lifelong fans. As a travel agent with a passion for Northern Ireland’s hidden gems, I’m here to guide you through an unforgettable Derry escape, balancing history, culture, and local flair every step of the way.

Why Derry?

Derry’s compact 17th-century city walls are among Europe’s best preserved, enclosing winding cobblestone streets, Georgian townhouses, and lively marketplaces. Beyond the walls, a rich tapestry of murals in the nearby Bogside neighborhood tells the story of The Troubles—and the peace that followed. From world-class festivals to boutique cafes and riverside walks, Derry presents an intimate, walkable destination that rewards both history buffs and culinary explorers alike.

Best Time to Visit

  • Summer (June–August): Long daylight hours (up to 17 hours of sunshine) make evening strolls atop the city walls or along the Peace Bridge especially magical. Plus, the city buzzes with festivals—Film, Jazz & Big Band, and the Foyle Regatta.
  • Shoulder Seasons (April–May, September–October): Mild temperatures, fewer crowds, and lower accommodation rates; perfect for clients who prefer to avoid the summer throng yet still enjoy crisp, clear days.
  • Winter (November–February): Derry’s Christmas Market lights up with artisan stalls, ice-skating, and live music—ideal for travelers seeking cozy pubs and festive cheer.

Curated Derry Itinerary

Day One: Historic Foundations

  • City Walls Walk: Start with a guided circuit around the 1.5-mile walls. Book a private “living history” guide who brings the siege of 1689 to life through costumed storytelling.
  • Tower Museum: Arrange skip-the-line tickets for an immersive exhibit on Derry’s maritime heritage, complete with panoramic city models.
  • Evening Welcome: Reserve a table at a riverside gastropub for local oysters, artisan cheeses, and a pint of local craft stout.

Day Two: Cultural Immersion

  • Bogside Murals Tour: Coordinate a walking tour led by a mural artist from the Bogside Artists Collective, offering personal insights into each political mural.
  • Craft Quarter: Schedule a visit to the Craft Village to meet makers of textiles, jewelry, and ceramics. Include a short workshop so clients can craft their own souvenir.Traditional
  • Music Session: Book an intimate evening at Peadar O’Donnell’s Bar, where guests can join a private session with local fiddlers and uileann pipe players.

 Day Three: Beyond the City

  • Causeway Coast Excursion: Offer a private driver-guide day trip to the Giant’s Causeway, Dunluce Castle, and the Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge—tailoring stops to clients’ pace and interests.
  • Dinner in Limavady: On the return, arrange a farm-to-table twilight dinner at a Michelin-listed country house, showcasing Northern Ireland’s finest seasonal produce.

With my local contacts, tailored itineraries, and commitment to seamless logistics—from assured upgrades and private guides to curated culinary experiences—you will experience Derry not just as visitors, but as welcomed friends. Ready to chart a course for Northern Ireland’s southern gateway?

Matt planned our 10 day trip to Ireland including personal drivers each day. Ou daily activities started at 9am each day. We saw and experienced everything there was to do each day. Matt provided tour guides for the 2 of us. At ages 80 and 82 it was a dream trip for us. Matt made airline changes for us so we could visit friends in Switzerland before returning home to Whidbey Island WA. Matt is so easy to work with and accommodating. 5*

Best Company Trip I’ve Ever Been On
Reviewed By Ana C - Reno, NV | Traveled to Las Vegas | Nevada | USA
From the moment we landed in Vegas, everything felt effortless. Flights, transfers, and hotel check-in were smooth, and it was clear this trip was extremely well planned. The private dinner at Bourbon Steak was next-level — incredible food, amazing service, and such a special atmosphere for our team. Renting out Swingers Mini Golf for the after-party was such a fun and unexpected touch. Huge credit to Matt for creating an experience that felt both luxurious and genuinely fun. He gave plenty of communication about which flight I was placed on along with a detailed itinerary.
I would recommend this agent to my family and friends.
