About Me

Few travel experiences can rival the sheer thrill and emotional impact of gorilla trekking. Standing just a few meters from a family of mountain gorillas in their natural habitat is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that combines adventure, conservation, and cultural immersion.

Why Choose Gorilla Trekking?

Gorilla trekking is more than just a wildlife excursion; it’s an opportunity to witness one of the world’s most endangered species up close while supporting conservation efforts. With fewer than 1,100 mountain gorillas left in the wild, this experience is exclusive to a few select locations in Africa, namely Uganda, Rwanda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

For nature lovers, wildlife photographers, and adventure seekers, gorilla trekking is an unparalleled experience. The trek through dense rainforests is challenging yet rewarding, culminating in an awe-inspiring encounter with these gentle giants in their natural environment.

Top Gorilla Trekking Destinations

  • Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Uganda – Home to nearly half of the world’s mountain gorilla population, Bwindi offers diverse trekking experiences, rich biodiversity, and an intimate setting for gorilla encounters.
  • Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda – Famous for its well-organized trekking experience and luxurious accommodations, this park is perfect for high-end travelers looking for a seamless and comfortable adventure.
  • Virunga National Park, Democratic Republic of Congo – A more off-the-beaten-path option, Virunga offers adventurous travelers the chance to see gorillas in a less touristy environment, though political stability is a factor to consider.

Best Time to Go Gorilla Trekking

The best time for gorilla trekking is during the dry seasons, which typically run from June to September and December to February. During these months, the trails are less muddy, and sightings are more predictable. However, gorilla trekking is available year-round, and the rainy season (March-May, October-November) can offer fewer crowds and lower permit prices.

Permits

One of the most crucial aspects of planning a gorilla trek is securing permits in advance. These are limited in number and can sell out months ahead of time.

What to Expect on a Gorilla Trek

You should be prepared for an adventurous and physically demanding experience. Treks can last anywhere from one to six hours, depending on the gorillas’ location. Terrain can be rugged, steep, and muddy, so a moderate to high level of fitness is recommended.

Once gorillas are located, visitors are allowed a strictly regulated one-hour viewing period to minimize stress on the animals. During this time, they can observe behaviors such as feeding, grooming, and playful interactions among the group.

Gorilla trekking is one of the most profound wildlife encounters available today, offering travelers a deep connection with nature while contributing to conservation efforts.

Best Company Trip I’ve Ever Been On
Reviewed By Ana C - Reno, NV | Traveled to Las Vegas | Nevada | USA
From the moment we landed in Vegas, everything felt effortless. Flights, transfers, and hotel check-in were smooth, and it was clear this trip was extremely well planned. The private dinner at Bourbon Steak was next-level — incredible food, amazing service, and such a special atmosphere for our team. Renting out Swingers Mini Golf for the after-party was such a fun and unexpected touch. Huge credit to Matt for creating an experience that felt both luxurious and genuinely fun. He gave plenty of communication about which flight I was placed on along with a detailed itinerary.

We cannot say enough great things about Matt and the experience he created for our annual holiday incentive trip in Las Vegas. Planning travel and events for 80 people is no small task, but Matt handled every detail with professionalism, creativity, and total confidence from start to finish. He coordinated all flights, hotel accommodations, and airport transfers seamlessly, making the entire process effortless for our team. The highlights of the trip were absolutely exceptional — a private dinner at Bourbon Steak that felt truly elevated and special, followed by an unforgettable after-party where Matt arranged for us to rent out Swingers Mini Golf. It was the perfect balance of upscale and fun, and our attendees are still talking about it. Matt was proactive, responsive, and always one step ahead, which gave us complete peace of mind throughout the planning process and during the trip itself. Awesome taste of Italy
Reviewed By BV - Pheonix, AZ | Traveled to Italy | Europe
We can’t thank Matt enough for helping make our post-cruise trip to Italy so special. There were six of us traveling together, and he coordinated everything flawlessly—from our car service after the cruise, to train tickets, hotels, and unique experiences like a Vespa tour and a golf cart tour through Rome. The hotels in Rome and Tuscany were beautiful, and every part of the trip ran smoothly thanks to his planning. I have used Matt before and recommend him to my group of friends. We’ll absolutely be using Matt again for future friend trips and recommend him wholeheartedly!
