About Me

Angela Hughes is a leading Tanzania and Zanzibar travel expert, CEO of Trips and Ships Travel, and founder of Luxury Travel University. With more than forty years of global travel experience, she designs curated safaris, Great Migration itineraries, Kilimanjaro extensions, family adventures, Zanzibar beach escapes, honeymoon trips, and escorted programs throughout East Africa. Travelers rely on her deep regional expertise, trusted supplier partnerships, and ability to create seamless, meaningful, and unforgettable wildlife and beach experiences across Tanzania and the islands of Zanzibar.

Tanzania is home to some of the most remarkable wildlife viewing on earth. Angela designs custom safari journeys through the Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, Tarangire, Lake Manyara, and the Southern Circuit. The Serengeti remains one of the world’s greatest ecosystems, known for its vast plains, big cats, elephants, giraffes, and the annual Great Migration of more than a million wildebeest and zebra. The Ngorongoro Crater offers dramatic scenery and a concentrated population of wildlife in a natural volcanic bowl. Tarangire is known for baobab forests, elephants, and birdlife, while Lake Manyara offers tree-climbing lions, flamingos, and lakeside landscapes.

Angela works with Tanzania’s leading safari camps and lodges, including tented camps on the migration routes, boutique lodges near the crater, private concessions, and camps positioned for optimal wildlife viewing. She also collaborates with select safari partners offering exceptional guiding, intimate properties, and well-designed safari vehicles. Her experience ensures travelers are placed in the right location at the right time of year, especially for seasonal wildlife movements.

Zanzibar is often added after safari and offers clear water, white-sand beaches, spice plantations, coral reefs, and historic Stone Town. Angela creates island combinations that include Zanzibar, Pemba, and Mnemba, as well as diving and snorkeling experiences, dhow cruises, spice tours, village visits, and beach resorts ideal for couples, families, and groups.

Cultural and experiential elements are woven into every itinerary. Travelers enjoy Maasai village visits, hot-air balloon safaris over the Serengeti, guided bush walks, night drives, conservation programs, spice tours in Zanzibar, and Stone Town explorations that highlight Swahili, Arabic, and African heritage. Angela also integrates culinary experiences featuring coastal cuisine, fresh seafood, spices, Tanzanian flavors, and market visits.

Tanzania and Zanzibar are popular for honeymoons, anniversaries, multi-generational travel, and celebration trips. Angela works with couples, families, adventure travelers, photographers, and groups seeking authentic wildlife and cultural encounters. Her itineraries include private safari vehicles, exclusive lodges, flights between parks, and beach extensions for a relaxing finale.

Logistics are a critical part of safari planning.

Angela provides clarity on internal flights, park fees, luggage restrictions, seasonal differences, vaccination considerations, and timing for the Great Migration. Most travelers spend seven to ten days on safari, followed by three to seven days in Zanzibar.

Entry requirements are straightforward and include a passport and visa for many nationalities, which can often be processed online or upon arrival.Travelers choose Angela for her extensive Africa travel experience, well-established partnerships, and ability to create itineraries that align with wildlife seasons, traveler style, and the pacing needed for a comfortable safari and beach combination.

After working in the travel industry for 17 years, I am very picky about who I use to coordinate our travel. Angela just booked a Mediterranean cruise for my family and I couldn't have been happier with her superior knowledge and outstanding customer service. We also attended a humanitarian mission last summer that Angela coordinated. I was so impressed with entire experience! I would recommend Angela and her company to anyone.
I would recommend this agent to my family and friends.

France Tour

Just wanted to let you know that my daughter and I had a great trip to France! Everything worked out beautifully without the stress of making all the arrangements myself as I have done before.??????? We took the option of going to the beaches of Normandy have been there before but I was anxious for my daughter to see them as my father was part of the first assault on day. We had a great tour guide, Jonathan Holburn was was very knowledgeable, helpful and funny.
I would recommend this agent to my family and friends.

Thanks for encouraging me

We r still in India, I am loving it, the people are so nice. It amazes me how people in US are so frightened. I keep getting messages about, are you afraid, bet you can’t wait to come home, I would never go there. I guess I asked you if I was safe, but I was still going.

Anyway, thanks for encouraging me. I look forward to going home and opening peoples minds. You have an awesome job, you make the world smaller for people, you open people minds, hearts and change lives for the better.

I would recommend this agent to my family and friends.

I do not have much international travel experience, so I was looking for a travel agent that did. In that, I decided to team up with Angela to plan my trip to Greece. She has been there many times and I found that so helpful to plan. She was professional, offered her experienced opinion and ultimately, the trip was amazing.

Ireland Anniversary Trip
Reviewed By Brian C - Winter Garden | Traveled to Ireland ~ Europe
We started our journey in Dublin Ireland from there, we went to the Cliffs of Moher, which were absolutely stunning. We also visited Galway, stayed at the Ashford castle, and journeyed to Edinburgh, and the Scottish Highlands. In St. Andrews, where we visited the famous golf course and watched The Open tournament which was a highlight for me.

One of the best parts of the trip was how green everything was. It was so nice to see all the greenery and the beautiful landscapes. The people were also very friendly and helpful. Overall, it was an amazing trip and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is thinking about travelling to these two countries. This was our first guided tour with Trafalgar and it was the right choice for me and saved me a lot of hassle. We would definitely choose the guided option again. Angela helped us with all of the details and even though this had been postponed with covid she still helped us make it happen! Happy wife = Happy life
I would recommend this agent to my family and friends.
