Polignano a Mare Travel Guide – Angela Hughes
Polignano a Mare Travel Guide – Angela Hughes

Angela Hughes is a leading Puglia travel expert, CEO of Trips and Ships Travel, and founder of Luxury Travel University. She has spent years exploring Italy’s southern regions and designs curated Puglia itineraries that include coastal towns, countryside villas, food and wine experiences, cultural touring, and fully escorted programs. Travelers rely on her deep regional expertise, trusted partnerships, and thoughtful planning to experience the authentic beauty of Puglia.

Puglia is one of Italy’s fastest-growing destinations, known for its whitewashed villages, olive groves, wine country, beaches, cliffside coastlines, and traditional trulli homes. Angela creates itineraries that highlight Alberobello, Polignano a Mare, Ostuni, Lecce, Monopoli, Locorotondo, and the Itria Valley. Her programs often include countryside villa stays, cooking classes, olive oil tastings, winery visits, beach clubs, and coastal touring.

Alberobello is famous for its UNESCO-listed trulli homes, offering a unique architectural experience that draws travelers from around the world. Ostuni, known as the White City, impresses with its winding hilltop streets and panoramic views. Polignano a Mare offers dramatic cliffs, hidden coves, clear water, and one of Italy’s most photographed coastlines. Monopoli provides charming streets, a harborfront promenade, and authentic local culture.

Angela designs cultural touring through Lecce, often called the Florence of the South for its baroque architecture, churches, museums, and culinary scene. She builds slow-travel itineraries through the Itria Valley with stops in Locorotondo, Martina Franca, Cisternino, and the surrounding countryside. For coastal experiences, she includes Gallipoli, Otranto, Torre dell’Orso, and Santa Maria di Leuca at the tip of Italy’s heel.

She partners with Puglia’s top hotels including masseria estates, boutique countryside properties, seaside resorts, cave hotels, and historic inns. Angela also designs private touring with drivers, guides, farm visits, tastings, and coastal boat days. Travelers often combine Puglia with the Amalfi Coast, Capri, Naples, Basilicata, or Sicily for a deeper southern Italy experience.

Food plays a central role in Puglia. Angela incorporates cooking classes, olive oil farms, wine tastings in Primitivo and Negroamaro regions, seafood lunches, market tours, bakery stops, and dining in traditional trattorias. Puglia is known for its fresh produce, burrata, orecchiette, seafood, and local pastries such as pasticciotto.

Puglia is ideal for couples, families, honeymooners, and multi-generational groups. Families enjoy beach days, countryside experiences, and shallow-water swimming. Couples choose Puglia for its romantic towns, masseria stays, vineyards, and cliffside dining. Angela also designs experiences such as private olive oil tastings, photography sessions, sunset boat tours, and cultural immersion programs.

Travel planning in Puglia requires understanding driving logistics, limited train connections, rural hotel availability, beach club reservations, and seasonal crowds. May through October is the most popular time to visit, with June and September offering ideal weather. Angela coordinates all logistics including airport transfers, car services, drivers, day trips, villa stays, and regional touring. Most travelers spend five to ten days depending on the number of towns and experiences included. Entry to Italy is easy for most guests and requires only a valid passport.

Travelers choose Angela because she designs well-structured itineraries that showcase Puglia’s food, culture, coastlines, countryside charm, and authentic Italian lifestyle. Her Puglia travel packages blend iconic villages, culinary traditions, scenic beaches, and curated experiences that highlight the best of Italy’s rising southern region.

Angela is truly a travel expert!
Reviewed By Heidi - Utah | Traveled to
After working in the travel industry for 17 years, I am very picky about who I use to coordinate our travel. Angela just booked a Mediterranean cruise for my family and I couldn't have been happier with her superior knowledge and outstanding customer service. We also attended a humanitarian mission last summer that Angela coordinated. I was so impressed with entire experience! I would recommend Angela and her company to anyone.
I would recommend this agent to my family and friends.

France Tour
Reviewed By Jan D. - Utah | Traveled to France ~ Europe
Just wanted to let you know that my daughter and I had a great trip to France! Everything worked out beautifully without the stress of making all the arrangements myself as I have done before.??????? We took the option of going to the beaches of Normandy have been there before but I was anxious for my daughter to see them as my father was part of the first assault on day. We had a great tour guide, Jonathan Holburn was was very knowledgeable, helpful and funny.
I would recommend this agent to my family and friends.

Thanks for encouraging me
Reviewed By Linda - Bedford | Traveled to India ~ Central Asia

We r still in India, I am loving it, the people are so nice. It amazes me how people in US are so frightened. I keep getting messages about, are you afraid, bet you can’t wait to come home, I would never go there. I guess I asked you if I was safe, but I was still going.

Anyway, thanks for encouraging me. I look forward to going home and opening peoples minds. You have an awesome job, you make the world smaller for people, you open people minds, hearts and change lives for the better.

I would recommend this agent to my family and friends.

I do not have much international travel experience, so I was looking for a travel agent that did. In that, I decided to team up with Angela to plan my trip to Greece. She has been there many times and I found that so helpful to plan. She was professional, offered her experienced opinion and ultimately, the trip was amazing.

Ireland Anniversary Trip
Reviewed By Brian C - Winter Garden | Traveled to Ireland ~ Europe
We started our journey in Dublin Ireland from there, we went to the Cliffs of Moher, which were absolutely stunning. We also visited Galway, stayed at the Ashford castle, and journeyed to Edinburgh, and the Scottish Highlands. In St. Andrews, where we visited the famous golf course and watched The Open tournament which was a highlight for me.

One of the best parts of the trip was how green everything was. It was so nice to see all the greenery and the beautiful landscapes. The people were also very friendly and helpful. Overall, it was an amazing trip and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is thinking about travelling to these two countries. This was our first guided tour with Trafalgar and it was the right choice for me and saved me a lot of hassle. We would definitely choose the guided option again. Angela helped us with all of the details and even though this had been postponed with covid she still helped us make it happen! Happy wife = Happy life
I would recommend this agent to my family and friends.
