I am a frequent traveler, with a passion for Europe and river cruising. I find river cruising to be a perfect fusion of exploration, comfort, and cultural immersion. I’ve personally sailed on over a dozen river cruises with a variety of cruise lines - with more on the books over the coming year. Perfect Trip to Lisbon

John at Freestate Travel put together the perfect trip to Lisbon, Portugal for us back in February 2020. Our hotel was in a great central location, on a quiet square with many local restaurants. We had a wonderful time exploring the city and beyond. We enjoyed all of the must-see sights in Lisbon, got in all our steps by taking walking tours of the different Lisbon neighborhoods, rode the famous trolleys and funiculars, and went on fantastic day trips to Sintra, Cabo da Roca, Cascais, and Belem. I highly recommend John and Freestate Travel for your future travel plans!

Great Time in Nashville

We had a wonderful time exploring the city by foot and electric scooters. We enjoyed all of the must-see sights in Nashville: backstage tour at The Grand Ole Opry, The Opry’s first ever Country Christmas Concert, The Ryman Auditorium tour, Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, and numerous local breweries! Perfect River Cruise!

OMG. We are so lucky to have met John at Freestate Travel. He not only made our multi-couple river cruise fit around very tight work schedules but gave us advice that saved us hundreds of dollars on airfare. He knew of an AARP discount and the trick of waiting until airfare prices dropped to buy tickets. The Avalon Waterways ship that took us along the Danube River was wonderful; it really was perfect for our active lifestyle and service expectations.
John is a pleasure to work with. He has been accommodating to our preferences and needs, and he quickly made sure all details were fully addressed.

Adventure of our Dreams!

Great Family Trip

Exceeded Expectations!

My husband and I have traveled quite a bit to Europe and have usually handled all of our travel arrangements but due to a recent disability that involves limited mobility, we thought it best if we had outside help this time and didn't leave anything to chance. We gave John the instruction, "We have never been to Paris; we want to experience as many of the typical touristy kinds of things as possible." He exceeded our expectations. What really worked for us was his openness to working with us the way we wanted. We wanted him to give us an initial schedule without a lot of input from us. Then we worked with him on making some modifications. He was completely committed to this process and frequently offered to review the itinerary and asked if there were any further changes we wanted. My experience with Freestate Travel was amazing. John provided a ton of options and worked closely with me and my family to craft a plan that worked best for us. On a personal note, I would add that that my trip was for my older mother who had some mobility issues. John was fantastic, making sure to pick easily accessible hotels, scheduling breaks in between tours for rest and generally just being sensitive to her needs. Great Nashville Experience

Had John plan a trip to Nashville for me. Provided sites and attractions that I wanted to see with Grand Ole Opry at the top of the list. He listened and was very attentive to my requirements. He went above and beyond. Recommended that I not get a car rental. Best advice since everything was within walking distance of the hotel that he booked - Pedestrian Bridge, Broadway, Ryman Auditorium and the Country Music Hall of Fame. Took Uber as recommended to Grand Ole Opry for backstage tour and show. He reserved the best seats in the house as acknowledged by our tour guide and myself. This was the best vacation in a long time. I would highly recommend John for any travel plans. Ready to book another trip.

Wonderful River Cruise

Excellent Planning and Personalized Service

John Miller was masterful in managing, advising and guiding us to our ultimate decision for our 50th Anniversary Celebration. We decided to tour the European Jewels with UniWorld, traveling Europes rivers from Budapest to Amsterdam over a 15-day period.
John helped us pick the perfect room, on a classic ship, beautifully cared for and wonderfully decorated, for a very comfortable and relaxing 15 days on the Danube, Inn, and Rhine rivers.
Adhering to our desire for classic properties, John guided us to wonderful properties in our pre-cruise time in Budapest and post-cruise time in Amsterdam. He surprised us with a few add-ons that made the trip more meaningful.
We also heeded his advice on trip insurance, which thankfully was not used but gave us great peace of mind.

John did an excellent job advising and helping us with our Viking Cruise. It was nice because we were 1st time cruisers and he helped with everything. He provided inputs to us on all aspects from getting an appreciation for the boat, which room was best for us to choose, travel insurance options, flights, excursion info., explaining the nuances of what to expect in European countries, and helping to be our POC with Viking. He even told them it was our anniversary which resulted in us getting an upgrade from Viking. And he was able to get our tickets to see the Anne Frank house in Amsterdam which are tough to get. John was very responsive to us. We would definitely recommend John as a travel agent and would use him again.

John was great and highly responsive to our questions and in coordinating our trip with another couple. He had all the details anticipated and made the whole process streamlined. I would definitely turn to him again for travel plans. We have been on 2 other Viking cruises and if you call Viking with questions you always get someone new and face delays while they look everything up. Using John was like jumping to the front of the line at Disney World. I would call it top-level concierge service.

Scotland Was Calling

I was scrolling Facebook one day and came across an ad that said, "Scotland is Calling." Well, I had no choice but to answer the call. Boy, am I glad I did! It led me straight to Freestate Travel LLC and to John Miller. I emailed him and so began my journey. The Globus bus tour I booked through John was everything I could have asked for. I had not done a bus tour before so I had MANY questions which John was always quick to respond to, even if just so say he would get back to me with any answer he had to research.
