While vacationing with your family and significant other are important, every woman needs a good girl’s trip every so often. It does not need to be extravagant or off to distant lands (although it can!), a great girls trip is made special by the break from everyday routine and the people you share it with.
1. Vacation from Life
Temporarily letting go of the responsibilities in your life can help you recharge your batteries and help you be better when you get back. Detaching from the kids, work, your husband, etc. on a girl’s trip gives you time to unwind and relax sending you home rejuvenated and refreshed. One of the best things the four of us loved on our Cabo trip at an all- inclusive resort was not having a schedule. We did not need to cook, make reservations, do laundry, etc. Instead we spent our time walking the beach, sipping margaritas on the beach, eating when we wanted to eat, and staying up late chatting.
2. Do Girly Things
I have two boys and a husband so doing girly things is not usually in the plans. When you go away with the girls, you can dance the night away at silent disco, enjoy theater shows or concerts, shop, spa treatments, or just lay by the pool reading magazines. My best friend and I went on the Norwegian Encore in November. We had a blast getting dressed up, enjoying the theater shows including Kinky Boots and Choir of Man, dancing at silent disco, sipping fruity drinks at Sugarcane, and shopping.
3. Reconnect with friends
As busy moms and wives our relationships with girlfriends may suffer. It is hard to balance it all! Getting to spend more time than a quick lunch or dinner together allows for stronger ties. One of our mornings in Cabo, we went to the buffet for breakfast. We ended up having so much fun just chatting and drinking coffee, we ended up sitting there for hours. Most of our days were spent laughing until our cheeks hurt.
4. Broaden your horizons
While you more than likely have many things in common with your girlfriends, you also have individual likes and dislikes. When planning your vacation, discuss what each of you wants to do in that destination. When my friend and I were planning our trip to Scottsdale, Arizona, we each had an activity that we wanted to do. I wanted to horseback ride and she wanted to hike up a massive hill. We pushed each other out of our comfort zones engaging in both activities that weekend.
There is something special about getting away with one or more girlfriends. So grab your tribe and let’s start planning!
