The best way to see Europe is on a river cruise. The best part of a river cruise is that you wake up every day in a new city but, you only have to unpack once. Also, most river cruise lines include a shore excursion in every port which is a great way to get acquainted with the city.
Below is a recap of the rivers I have cruised in Europe.
Danube
I have cruised on the Danube River twice. Countries visited include: Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Hungary, Serbia and Slovakia. My favorite city is Budapest, Hungary. I love the open air markets, friendly people and delicious desserts.
Rhine
I have cruised on the Rhine River twice. Countries visited include Netherlands, Germany, France and Switzerland. Check out my Travel Story about "Biking Along the Rhine". It is an awesome way to see a destination!
Rhone
Exploring France was on my bucket list and I made it happen! I sailed northbound on the Rhone River and visited Nice, Les Baux, Arles, Avignon, Viviers, Tournon, Burgundy and ended in Paris. My favorite part was exploring the towns and visiting the local food markets.

We have gone on two great trips that Stacy organized for us - both overseas and both quite complicated (Switzerland, Italy, Denmark, etc.). She does an AMAZING job! I truly appreciate the fact that she worked so closely with me to make sure that the vacations were exactly what we wanted and suited our particular preferences. Her attention to detail is unsurpassed. Traveling abroad can cause some anxiety at times, but she truly changed that. I would recommend her highly for any travel needs, and when we're ready for our next trip she will be the first to know!

Awesome Trip

Our trip was absolutely fantastic and Stacy took care of us by providing suggestions of places to stay before and after our river cruise. She promptly reminded us of deadlines or dates additional Avalon tours were available to online.
There was only one snafu which resulted in the 4 star rather than the 5 star rating. This was possibly a fault of us as well as Stacy when we may not have mentioned how much we wanted to see the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam. We did not book online ahead of because it wanted us to give a date and TIME we would be there. We really would have appreciated guidance from her as to what to do about it. Instead when we got to the museum there was more of a mix-up from two people who were working outside for crown control when they gave us mixed messages about tickets. End result is that we did not get to go inside. At any rate, a heads up to Stacy to possibly ask people about what they want to see in cities and let them know of ticketing difficulties.

I have worked with Stacy for many years when traveling to Europe. First and foremost, she is very professional in all of her work. She is a great listener, knowing how to address any needs or concerns I may have regarding any part of European travel. Stacy is prompt in her responses to my questions and in booking my travel. She is thorough in all of her work from securing the travel/tour, to the vouchers needed for extra nights, airport transfers, intercontinental flights within the EU connecting tour cities, insurance, and the list goes on. She never "bugs" me regarding other travel - but does send me something she thinks I may be interested in. She "checks in" when I return inquiring about the trip - noting any concerns and dealing with them appropriately and promptly. She is my "go-to" person for any travel questions I may have. We have always used Stacy for our vacations. From Punta Cama, St.Lucia and now Aruba. She has always made great suggestions for us for the entire trip. We have never had an issue with an airline. When we weren't sure what hotel to go with we'd ask her suggestion and every time she was right on. We have always refered friends to her. Some may book online but it's nice to know if something should come up you have someone to go to that is able to help you out.

Location was Perfect – Airline was Terrible

Stacy booked us with Apple Vacations. My group arrived in Ixtapa & everything was great until my suitcase was not on the carousel. I had to deal Volaris Airlines & Apple. I was disappointed but I figured my suitcase would show up the next day. I gave all of the info to my Apple Vacations Rep–Roger and he said he will take care of it. Too make a long story short I never received by suitcase and the Apple Rep lied to me for my first 3 days telling me my suitcase was is in Mexico City. I contacted Stacy on day 2 of my trip because I was getting nowhere with Volaris or Apple. When I returned home Stacy worked with Apple to get me a reimbursement in $ for my lost items. Volaris was only offering airline vouchers. Stacy fought for me to receive $ in lieu of vouchers. I would like to thank Stacy for going the extra mile for me on this unfortunate ordeal. This is why I will always call Stacy when booking a vacation and I will never fly Volaris airlines again.

Stacy was great to work with from start to finish. We were a bit late in planning our trip to London and Paris, but Stacy was able to put this trip together efficiently. She was quick to respond to our questions and we were never left in the dark. She arranged for our flights, hotels, Euro train, transfers and travel insurance. Amalfi Coast was AMAZING!!

Stacy Wangelin did a fantastic job with our trip to the Amalfi Coast. She helped us pick out some very nice hotels that were in our budget, she arranged several private cars, one to pick us up at the airport and bring us to our hotel in Sorrento, another one to pick us up in Positano and take us back to our Naples hotel and from the Naples hotel back to the airport. She helped us pick out different tours form seeing Pompeii, taking a cooking class to having a private boat tour around Capri Island. We had one flight delayed due to weather, so we missed one of our connections and ultimately missing our first private driver, but Stacy was very helpful to get on the phone to track down the company to get us back on our journey. I have worked with Stacy for many years. She is thorough, a great listener and always responds promptly. Her planning is precise and accurate. She has submitted any letters to the tour companies with always getting a response from them. This past trip my luggage was lost for 5 days. Even while in Europe, Stacy was checking the website for this missing luggage and it was she who informed me that it was found and where it would be delivered. Upon return, she submitted the claim (as the bag was damaged and a new one needed) for the luggage and additional clothing I purchased. She does a wonderful job of booking my flights - making sure I've got the necessary transfers and enough time between connecting flights. She also helped me to prebook the "optional" tours that were offered - again saving me the time and hassle of doing that on my own. Using her service takes the stress out of the travel and helps me focus on the wonderful tours. She's great!

We had a problem with Apple Vacations when we arrived in Mexico and we called Stacy and told her our problem. She contacted Apple Vacations and they said they would take care of us. Which didn't happen so when we came back from our vacation we contact Stacy again letting her know that nothing was resolved in our situation we had. She again contacted Apple Vacations and she and Apple Vacations resolved our situation we had.
She was great at keeping up on this situation and not letting it get too far behind that it couldn't be resolved.
