In October 2023, I had the extraordinary opportunity to tick off a significant item on my bucket list. Invited by Abercrombie & Kent, one of our prestigious luxury suppliers, I embarked on an exclusive East Africa Safari that exceeded all my expectations.

Our adventure began in the bustling city of Nairobi, Kenya. After being greeted by the hospitable A&K team, I joined a group of twelve other adventurers, each as enthusiastic about the journey as I was. From Nairobi, we ventured to Arusha in Tanzania, where our safari odyssey truly began. Our meticulously crafted itinerary led us through some of the world’s most iconic and awe-inspiring locations: the Ngorongoro Crater, the Serengeti, the Masai Mara, and finally, the Ol Pejeta Conservancy.

To say this experience was life-changing is an understatement. In the Ngorongoro Crater, we were mesmerized by its rich biodiversity and stunning landscapes. This UNESCO World Heritage site, with with its lush caldera and abundant wildlife, offered us a glimpse into the natural world’s splendor. We watched wildebeests, zebras, and gazelles roam freely, epitomizing the essence of the wild.

The Serengeti dazzled us next with its endless plains and incredible wildlife sightings, including the elusive Big Five: lions, elephants, buffalos, leopards, and rhinoceroses. The anticipation of spotting these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat was exhilarating.

One morning, we had the unique experience of a sunrise hot air balloon ride over the Serengeti. As the balloon gently ascended, the landscape below unfolded in a breathtaking panorama bathed in golden light. It was a peaceful, almost surreal experience, offering a bird’s-eye view of the vastness and beauty of the Serengeti. This is an experience worth every penny, one that you will cherish for a lifetime.

The Masai Mara introduced us to the warmth and culture of the Maasai people. We visited a local village and learned about their traditions, which have been passed down through generations. The Masai Mara’s rolling plains were teeming with wildlife, and witnessing the Great Migration—one of nature’s most dramatic spectacles—was a highlight. Thousands of wildebeests and zebras moved in unison, crossing the Mara River in a life-and-death struggle for survival against predators lurking nearby.

Our final stop, the Ol Pejeta Conservancy, was a sanctuary for endangered species, such as the black rhino. Walking alongside these majestic animals, protected and cared for in their natural habitat, was humbling and inspiring. Ol Pejeta’s dedication to conservation and sustainable tourism left a lasting impression on me.
