On my first Alaskan cruise, my biggest struggle was making myself go to bed each night.  During the summer months, the sun rises between 4 and 5 AM and sets between 10 and 11 PM. There is so much beauty everywhere you look.  I found myself sitting on the balcony long past the time I should have been in bed. One of my best memories was during a glacier explorer excursion.  The catamaran pulled up next to our cruise ship and we boarded the vessel for a 2-hour tour of the glacier and surrounding area.  During our time near the glacier, there was a massive calving of the glacier.  As the side of the ice began to fall our ears were filled with the sound of the cracking ice and its journey into the water.  Later as we traveled along the shoreline we had the opportunity to see wildlife such as bald eagles, bears, and harbor seals.
