Disney Sailing to Alaska

September 10, 2009 - updated April 8, 2010

It’s a Disney Cruise Line® first! The Disney Wonder® Cruise Ship is sailing to Alaska for a four-month season of 7-night cruises in 2011. Departing out of Vancouver, B.C., the ship will call on popular ports such as Juneau, Ketchikan and Skagway, and visiting Tracy Arm fjord.

The first Alaskan cruise sets sail on May 3, 2011, with the last cruise of the season scheduled for Aug. 30, 2011.

According to Travel Weekly's Johanna Jainchill, "With two new ships slated to debut in 2011 and 2012, speculation had been widespread over where Disney would expand. Alaska was rumored to be a possibility when Disney applied for a 10-year permit to visit Glacier Bay that would have begun in 2010. But the line withdrew its application, tamping down speculation that Alaska would be one its new destinations.

Overlooking Quiet Cove Pool, the Outlook Cafe is available for guests 18 years of age and older. It is a stylish retreat for guests to relax and enjoy a beverage or cocktail as they peer out through floor-to-ceiling, curved glass windows at breathtaking vistas. The design of Outlook Café is sophisticated with contemporary Art Deco inspiration. An elegant spiral staircase connects Outlook Café with the existing Cove Café one deck below. Relaxing background music will be playing in the Outlook Cafe. In addition, there are two televisions and headphones are available for guests who would like to listen to the broadcast.
