Tom Baumann is president of Travel Leaders Leisure Group, part of Travel Leaders Group, a North American travel company that includes over 1,300 company-owned and franchised travel agencies in Canada and the United States. Mr. Baumann reports directly to Barry Liben, CEO of Travel Leaders Group, which is based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Travel Leaders Leisure Group is headquartered in Holland, Michigan.
Travel Leaders Group was formed when the management team of Carlson Leisure Group (CLG) acquired CLG’s extensive portfolio of businesses from Carlson in January 2008. Travel Leaders Leisure Group, recently known as ProQuest Travel Group and originally known as Carlson Vacation & Business Travel and led by Mr. Baumann, was part of that acquisition.
Mr. Baumann had served as executive vice president of Carlson Vacation & Business Travel, responsible for the bulk of company-owned operations, including All Aboard Travel, Cruise Specialists, CruiseDeals.com, Partners In Travel, Luxury Travel Network, SinglesCruise.com and wholly-owned locations of what is now known as Travel Leaders leisure travel operations. Mr. Baumann continues to be responsible for the operations, sales, marketing and overall growth of these businesses, as well as Cruise Holidays and SeaMaster Cruises.
During Mr. Baumann’s tenure, Travel Leaders Group’s wholly-owned locations vaulted into the top 10 of all U.S.-based travel companies thanks in part to the many contributions of his operation.
Mr. Baumann joined the executive ranks of Carlson Leisure Group in 2000 following CLG's acquisition of his $50 million dollar Associate agency. Mr. Baumann founded that agency 20 years earlier.
The agency owned by Mr. Baumann was considered a model agency. As it grew, Mr. Baumann served as an Advisory Board member to the Associate Division. He was named "Associate of the Year" in 1995, and he was inducted into "Circle of Excellence" in 1996.
