Three Perfect Days in Las Vegas

Las Vegas may have a reputation for catering to vices, but this open-all-hours oasis in the Mojave Desert also delivers some of the best dining and art in the U.S. Here’s our day-by-day account of how to maximize your weekend in Las Vegas.

DAY 1

Start by soaking up Sin City’s frenetic energy straight from the source with a walk along the Strip on Las Vegas Boulevard. This famous stretch starts on the south end, around Tropicana Avenue, and runs approximately four miles up to The Strat (formerly the Stratosphere Hotel and Casino), home to the U.S.’s tallest freestanding observation tower. Move with the flow of the crowd, allowing ample time to duck into shops, restaurants and resorts along the way. Architecture doesn’t toe the line in this city, so be sure to wander into a few casinos where themed design and décor are taken to the extreme. Pass through the doors of Paris Las Vegas, The Venetian Las Vegas and New York, New York to be transported to their namesake destinations: take a gondola ride through the canals of Venice, pose for a picture next to a half-scale replica of the Eiffel Tower, and admire the NYC skyline or stroll through re-creations of its most famous streets.

Later that day, enter the lobby of the Bellagio for a quick cooldown from the desert heat and the once-in-a-lifetime chance to walk beneath the colorful Fiori di Como. This ceiling-mounted glass sculpture by American artist Dale Chihuly contains over 2,000 handblown pieces of glass and is one of the renowned artist’s largest public works. Take the floral fanfare to the next level with a worthy wander through the Bellagio Conservatory and Botanical Gardens, an expansive, 14,000-square foot, air-conditioned horticultural haven that creates elaborate flower and plant installations that change with the seasons. For a longer respite, spend some time perusing the Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art, an excellent rotating collection of pieces on temporary loan from private collections and esteemed museums around the globe. Since the resort’s opening in 1998, the gallery has featured work from Andy Warhol, Yayoi Kusama, Pablo Picasso and Georgia O’Keeffe, to name a few.

For a delicious lunch, head to Miznon inside The Venetian Las Vegas, where Israeli chef Eyal Shani serves Mediterranean fast casual cuisine at a 14-seat counter space. The whole roasted baby cauliflower, bag of green beans with lemon, salt and garlic, and stuffed pillow-perfect pitas are longstanding signature favorites.

Next up, head to Las Vegas’ newest attraction, The Sphere. Marvel at its imposing size or scan pre-booked tickets for The Sphere Experience, an almost two-hour program featuring interactive encounters with cutting-edge tech and an immersive, multi-sensory film by Oscar-nominated filmmaker Darren Aronofsky.

Celebrate your return to the physical world with a toast at the Eiffel Tower Restaurant’s Caviar Bar, located inside Paris Las Vegas’ replica Eiffel Tower. Time a pre-dinner reservation just right for raising a glass to your full first day in Vegas or opt for an after-dinner nightcap for spectacular nighttime views of the Bellagio Fountain show that occur every 15 minutes between 7pm and midnight. Grab a car or walk the short distance to the Nobu Hotel Las Vegas at Caesars Palace, where an 11,200-square foot restaurant awaits. Indulge in Nobu Matsuhisa’s upscale take on Japanese cuisine and sushi made from fish flown in from Japan. For an extra-special meal, book the teppanyaki experience and enjoy an exclusive menu of dishes prepared in front of your table.

DAY 2

Get off the Strip and start the day by rubbing elbows with locals at Lou’s Diner, one of Vegas’ oldest diners. Family-owned and operated since 1969, Lou’s serves an all-day breakfast and lunch menu full of straightforward American classics, from country-fried steak and eggs and fluffy pancake stacks to gooey melts and homemade soups. Afterward, dive deeper into vintage Vegas with a visit to The Neon Museum, where hundreds of old neon signs from as far back as the 1930s help tell the tale of Vegas’ architecture and design history. Tickets allow for one hour of exploration through the museum’s two “boneyards” littered with colorful signs in various stages of repair and functionality while the rehomed mid-century modern La Concha Motel lobby, designed by Paul Revere Williams, serves as the museum’s visitors’ center.

Round out the early afternoon with some shopping. Located at the south end of the Strip, The Shops at Crystals is an ultra-premium and luxury brand shopping center whose interior architecture and decor are as fun to look at as its shops. Here, peruse clothes and accessories from the likes of Alexander McQueen, Cartier, Gucci and Louis Vuitton. For less of a wallet hit, Las Vegas North Premium Outlets features upscale and luxury brands from Armani and Burberry to Sandro and Versace.

In the evening, dine al fresco at SW Steakhouse in the Wynn Las Vegas, a spot on the Strip serving certified Japanese Wagyu A5 beef. Superb cuts of dry-aged beef, fresh seafood and craft cocktails dominate the menu, and having a tableside view of the Wynn’s celebrated nightly show, Lake of Dreams, is an unmissable experience.

Cap off the night with a visit to one of Sin City’s hidden speakeasies. The Lock Speakeasy at Horseshoe Las Vegas is a bar within a bar that rewards callers with fabulous takes on the old fashioned while tickling their ears with some Prohibition-style jazz. At Fontainebleau Las Vegas’ Nowhere speakeasy, a rolling selection of interactive entertainment is served alongside creative cocktails in a swanky multi-room space. Book in advance where applicable since many speakeasies have limited space.

Grand Canyon

DAY 3

There may be no rest for the wicked in Vegas, but ordering breakfast to your room is a treat that buys a little extra time. Use it this morning to get geared up for a departure on a half-day Grand Canyon helicopter tour. Carved out by the Colorado River over millions of years, the Grand Canyon winds through 277 miles of rock — taking it all in via a helicopter’s bird’s-eye-view affords a level of humbling appreciation for this spectacular natural world wonder you just can’t get from ground level.

Views start at take-off when tour-goers rise high above Sin City, keeping an eye out for landmark sites like Luxor Hotel’s pyramid and the High Roller Ferris wheel. En route to the Grand Canyon, watch the changing sprawl of natural scenery while flying over the Las Vegas Valley, River Mountains and Lake Mead. As a built-in bonus, most tours include a flyover of the Hoover Dam, considered the tallest dam in the world when it was built back in 1935. Opt for flightseeing tours that maximize their aerial vantage point with 180-degree views and narrated commentary. For an unparalleled experience, take a tour that flies deep into the canyon before landing on the canyon floor.

Once back in Vegas, relax at the hotel pool or with a spa treatment before checking off one last must-do in Neon City: a live show. Roll the dice with a standup comedy act or go for Cirque du Soleil’s stunning acrobatics and storytelling, such as water-based wonder, O, at the Bellagio or The Beatles LOVE at The Mirage. Then again, magic shows are practically a Vegas institution, whether it’s the legendary David Copperfield at the MGM Grand, the explosive Criss Angel Mindfreak show at Planet Hollywood, or the impossible sleight of hand from a Shin Lim performance at The Mirage. No matter the choice, it’s easy to see that a memorable weekend in Vegas is a safe bet.

For the ultimate escape, look no further than the three-bedroom, 3,400-square-foot, French-inspired Chateau Villa at Caesars Palace. This iconic Las Vegas hotel sets the standard for opulent details, impeccable service and lavish accommodation. When you book through our agency, you will be welcomed as a priority guest and given $200 in destination dollars.
